Why are vaccinated accomodating others? I’ve noticed a troubling trend recently. Within our friends and family circle, I’ve heard one person say “I can’t not see my anti-vax son so I’ll have to risk the exposure!” Another, same comment about a sister. What I have not heard is, “I can’t not see my mom (sister, brother) so I’ll have to compromise and get vaccinated.” The attitude seems to be “I’ll be happy to have you visit, but it’ll be on my terms.” What does that say about the priorities of these people? Now, I’m seeing a prediction that there might be preferential triage because of overloads in the hospitals. There was also a comment about over-stressed health-care workers having less empathy for un-vaccinated COVID cases. What did we expect? Just how long are we going to allow the “me-firsts” to rule our lives? Personally, I believe people occupying ICU beds as a result of deliberate choices should pay for the health care out of pocket but since that’s unlikely to happen, at the very least, if we are faced with “preferential triage” it should be “anti-vaxxers last”!
